MARY KAY. I own a Urban Decay shadow called "Crave" and I thought that was black until my mom gave me her Mary Kay shadow. It's called "Coal" and it truly is the blackest eyeshadow I've ever used. It's so pigmented as well, a little goes a LONG way. And it's only $6.
The only downside is that you have to purchase it through a Mary Kay seller since their products are not sold in stores. It seems everyone sells Mary Kay nowadays so you shouldn't have a problem finding one in your town. Good luck!

The blackest black I have used personally have been the Sugarpill cosmetics black mentioned in that article, the black in the Lorac Pro Palette, and...that's about it. MAC Carbon is absolute garbage, in my opinionn. I would try the Wet n' Wild back though as I've seen other colors of theirs are quite pigmented.

Mac carbon
Also the black in the coastal scents 88 palette is pretty pigmented

I find mac carbon to be a disappointment pigmentation wise. I have an inglot matte shade that is WAY darker.

Well I guess it depends what it's for- carbon is awesome for smokey eyes since it blends really nicely for a gradient.
But for depth in a crease/cut crease- I prefer the coastal scents one.

UD blackout. Crave is actually described as being a blackened brown. Which may have been disappointed with it.

UD blackout although I'm not sure if that's considered "affordable". $18.
