Look up some tutorials, also maybe go as your favorite TV character favorite book character, favorite movie character, video game character, vampire, sugar skull, flapper, super hero, princess etc...

A personal favorite is a dead bride! Find a long white dress and then have fun ripping it up and spray painting it black/grey. Draw scars on your face and blackish smokey eye!
