I prefer a foundation brush specifically a stippling brush. It might not be the exact use of a stippling brush but I dab my foundation on my face then take the stippling brush and spread my foundation in a circular motion. Its the best technique I've used so far for foundation.

Beauty blender. It's easier and requires less going over for full coverage. If you use it, make sure to stroke upward and outwards like you're pulling away from you face. It's also less hassle with washing (no worries about loose hair)

I say both, actually. For foundation, I use a stippling brush first and then use a beauty blender. But definitely definitely buy a beauty blender regardless.

Stippling brush for light coverage, buffing brush for full controlled coverage (my favorite), flat heat foundation brush for light to medium coverage (and to get into every crack and crevice of your face), beauty blender sponge for light coverage and for contouring with foundation :)

Foundation brush (: and the beauty blender is just a sponge with a name on it. Go to eBay and get the supposedly imitation ones. They work the same

Buffing brushes are a must for foundation. Beauty blender for cream highlights and blending concealer.
