Yes, here I am, posting yet another thread. Can you tell I get bored at work?
Anyways, long story short, my skin is ridiculous. Around my t-zone, I get ridiculously oily, and in the winter the outer parts of my face (is that the right way to describe it? Outer parts? Lmao) get pretty dry.
HOWEVER... right around my nose, *especially* in the winter, it's not only oily as hell, but it's flaky and dry? Never knew that could be a thing.
I'll admit my skincare "routine" isn't typical, meaning I don't always use the same products at the same time and whatnot.
But.. any idea what products I could use to balance this disaster I call my face? :)

I have the same skin as you! Probably not as oily as youre describing, but I always thought my skin was dry because of how it is around my nose. My dermatologist said that I actually have oily skin and when the oil builds up in the creases around my nose and warms, it looks flaky and dry. Anything with tea tree oil he said was good and an oil free moisturizer. Hope I helped!

That's combination skin, super common. Oily in the tzone dry in the cheeks.
I recommend a toner that's gentle, neutrogena makes a good one for your tzone and exfoliating the dry areas to avoid falling. Also a good combination moisturizer will help balance your skins PH levels to balance the pils.

I have the same problem and I take my makeup of with almond oil (really good for your skin and it won't make you oily) then wash your face with warm water... Tone with something gentle like alcohol free and oil free and then moisture!

I also have the same problem... I've tried so many washes and moisturizers and even bought a clarisonic... It's so bad I can't even wear foundation, so I gave up. I just wash my face and apply moisturizer and deal with it :(

Chemistry 101!
Like dissolves like. So oil dissolves oil. Using an essential oil will replace your oily skin with clean fresh oil. And like Rebecca said, it won't actually make you oily. Your skin will d best with Almond oil because its hydrating. You can mix 3:1 ratio of castor oil and almond oil. The oiler it is the more castor you want. The less oily it is the more carrier oil you want.. Try toning with an organic Apple Cider Vinegar to help balance out your skins PH level. Hope this helps :)

That's exactly what I do Victoria! I RARELY wear foundation.. and if I do it's during the warmer months when my skin isn't quite as ridiculous. But thank you everyone for your tips! I use coconut oil as a moisturizer off and on, but I'll try some of these.. and try to actually keep it consistent, I'm sure that's at least 50% of the problem haha.

I have the same problem. Flaky nose area, esp in the winter. Drives me nuts. I also rarely wear foundation too for the same reason as it just looks terrible. I wish oil would help but I just find it makes no difference. I just end up with an oil slick instead and if I put foundation ontop of that, it would slide of in seconds and then leave this residue of flakey bits!! If you ever find an answer please let me know. I've tried exfoliating which helps a bit but not for long and not really. In the end I've set up a website about oily skin called www.oilyskinguide.com. to try and share information and answers on how to deal with these sorts of problems. Please let me know if you find out how to deal with this so I can post the answer on there and help other people like us.

You have oily skin but you suffer from dehydration ontop of regular exfoliation try and get a moisture boosting mask in at least once a week to help repair the moisture barrier. Try opting for a rose water toner to soften skin, keep it clear and attract more moisture. Look for moisturisers or moisture masks that use avocado, apricot kernel oil or red or brown algae extracts this will help with moisture retention. Just a few tips I give to my customers with similar skin concerns, hope this helps. xx

Also use an oil thats best for your skin type, oils usually best for oily or combination skin: ylang ylang, tea tree or lavender.x

RA B. would you recommend a primer under the foundation? It just occurred to me that this might be the way forward. Perhaps the primer would create a base that would smooth the flakiness over enough to make my nose area flake-free when I rub the foundation on. Almost like a barrier between the skin and the foundation?
Hmm, note to self: go to amazon.com and buy a primer. Have lots of my website http://www.oilyskinguide.com that I've written about but have yet to test. That's my homework then. Will report back.
