My hair whatever I do it doesn't curl I was wondering if anyone knows how to curl hair like this and what type of curling iron to use :)

I had hair like this too. what I did was i usually held each curl in for 45 sec- 60 secs sometimes more. I usually use one with a clamp. i also found that not using mousse or hairspray really helps too sometimes i go completely without hairspray.
Hope this helped:-)

what type of hair do you have? people with 1a and 1b hairs have the hardest time curling/keepiong the curls for 1+ hours...1c/2a/2b always have the best result and from 2c/3's and/4's you would need to blow dry your hair + wait 30 minute+ put curl defining spray and then curl...also the hold of setting spray would vary from hair to hair...keep experimenting with different products to see what suits you the best.
here's a neat trick, if you have really straight hair (1a/1b/1c) hot rollers, steams with rollers or heating your rollers with a blow dryer would give you better result than any curling iron :)

My hair is like this before it was super dry and processed. I would actually try curling your hair when it is not completely clean. Reading old fashion magazines from the 30s-50s suggests that hair for styling should not be freshly washed. Those styles were done to last, also. So maybe wash your hair the day before you want to curl it, for best results. I also have the best results with hot rollers, they should do a much better job than a curling iron

@Natalie T.: i have read it too many times that unwashed hair contains sebum which can fry your hair with blowdryers or any other form of heat!
