With a recent weather change with it being super sensitive, my face has started going red and flaku with tiny flesh like bumps on the forehead. this just appeared a month back
I realized neutrogena moisturiser was irritating my skin. I stopped using any products and my skin felt tonnes better but was red and flaky and a bit bumpy. vaseline really helped. I just bought ponds cold cream which seems okay right now. I get my hormones checked too. but I feel like this is a reaction to the environment. what would you suggest? that I stick to minimal use of products? I stick to using eyeliner and thats all. what kinds of chemicals usually irritate sensitive skin apart from the parfum scenta they add? sorry for ranting on. could someone help me out

What have you used vaseline for?

I used it for these super red dry patches near my nose and cheeks. the next morning it felt soothed and calm.

Just as we speak I tried a few sensitive skin moisturisers and they're burning the hell out of my face. and cause itchiness.

You need to be very careful this just happened to a friend of mine it just happened out of nowhere she went to a dermatologist and is still going to figure it out. I suggested to her in the meantime to use more natural products on the skin until you find out the cause. She is using milk as a cleanser you just soak cotton wool in milk n massage into the face then splash the rest over your face and then put honey on we have been leaving it on for as long as possible and the results are amazing! My friend does this morning and night but as mine is less sensitive I just do it at night and then moisturize

For moisturizer you should use something less chemical such as the simple brand

Use a natural oil like coconut, argan or maracuja. They are very gentle, shouldn't burn and are super hydrating.

Thanks girls! x Natural oils like coconut or mustard oil usually irritate my skin, it starts burning like crazy! I feel like freaking out and screaming, but I know better than that lol. Tonight I just applied vaseline and cuticura's dry skin cream, which didn't burn my skin at all. I am starting to get a teensy bit scared with all this going on, and I don't trust the dermatologist I went to primarily because I felt like she wouldn't listen to me or address the issues I tried telling her when I went for ingrown hair a few months back. She kept insisting on her own list of ointments, and refused to acknowledge they were razor bumps. Sigh. I'll try being patient and keep my skin super hydrated.

Vaseline may not be the best. People argue about it all the time and some say its fine to use but I am not one of them...I think its like putting saran wrap on your skin. I also don't feel like it hydrates. It's more meant to KEEP moisture in. Not actually add moisture. So while it makes it feel better it might not actually be helping the situation. I would suggest using something that isn't made with petroleum, like Alba's un-petroleum jelly. It does have coconut oil in it but it isn't just straight coconut oil so it may not burn. You can get it on Amazon. Also, maracuja and argan are different than coconut and mustard oil. They may be gentler than those. You could also try vitamin e oil as well.

If Vaseline helped that's means the red bumps could be eczema, jus really dry skin, which normally occurs in the winter. So Vaseline just helped to moisturize your skin. You probably jus need to continue to moisturizer your skin and use minimal products as possible to not irritate the skin.

If it continues you should switch dermatologists. It's really unfortunate that your current one doesn't listen to you :/ That right there is a big reason why I haven't gone to a dermatologist yet about my acne. I really don't want to go to one who isn't going to listen and just push a bunch of creams on me that I know will just dry out my face. Of course I know they aren't all like that but just the chance of it being like that puts me off of it altogether.

Thanks Vickie I think its winter rosacea or kp. and I've been moisturising often for the past 6 hours. feels supple and less bumpy and yes Caitlin I know what you mean, sometimes I guess we realise what's actually going on with our skin and learn to tackle it better. I hope you figure out your own solution too girl :)! I went to one of the supposedly best dermatologists and she refused to believe me that threading had caused some vicious bumps on my chin. she completely ruled it out, it freaked me to bits. but my cosmetologist agreed with me and told me I had super sensitive skin. I also know after research that I'm a great candidate dor folliculitus haha. doesn't help being south asian where facial hair is in abundance at times lol. Thanks for all the help girls.
