Do I have to cut my hair in order for it to grow?

Been dreading this for a very long time! I know my hair has been put through a lot and I'm finally starting to take care of it and it's growing very fast. To give it a boost should I give it a trim?

If there's no split ends, a trim won't actually speed up hair growth. But if there are, go ahead. I love your hair!

Cutting your hair is at the bottom and your hair grows at the top (scalp) so cutting your hair has nothing to do with growing out your hair except make it shorter BUT getting a trim is needed for split ends because eventually they will split all the way up your hair (no bueno) so only when you absolutely need it (if your trying to grow your hair) Because if it grows a little then you cut it a little it'll stay the same length and feel like its not growing. I hate when people say to get trims to grow their hair.. -.- Not you obviously but you know what I mean.
