I know how you feel! Hopefully this will help:

I tried so many different treatments, skincare systems, and medications, but because it was a hormonal problem, the only thing that worked for me was my Oratane, a generic version of Accutane. There were a lot of side-effects, and it's definitelt a 'last resort' option, but I was so sick of having acne that it was worth it for me. Definitely talk to your doctor about other options, like birth control, or a new topical treatment - sometimes your skin just becomes too tolerant of a certain product if you've used it for a few months, and it stops working. I hope this helped! Let me know if you have any other questions I can help with.

As for makeup, try something like Clinique Acne Solutions, that will be kind to your skin and treat your breakouts while covering them. A lot of high coverage makeup can easily clog your pores and worsen your acne, so look for something that is non-comedogenic.

A good face wash is Cetaphil, so so moisturizing, gentle and is the ONLY cleanser which hasnt irritated my my skin once! I 100% recommend Cetaphil!

If you're looking for a primer I looovve this one by loreal... It makes your skin really soft and it works great. Usually I wear just that with some concealer, but it works great under foundation too.

You need to figure out why you are breaking out. Do you have tons of clogged pores all over your face? Then, your face needs to be extracted and use products that are lightweight. Do you get acne on your chin, jawline, neck, or around the mouth? It's hormonal acne which you can take birth control pills. See if your acne improves if you cut out dairy. You need to be very hygienic. Use clean towels to dry your face. Wash your hands before washing/touching your face. Use clean pillowcases. Don't use dirty makeup brushes.

It's important to use products for your skin type. Don't use any rich or heavy moisturizing products, if you don't have dry skin. Very moisturizing products can clog pores. Stick to lightweight or gel formulations. Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or Cerave foaming cleanser. Double-cleanse your face when you wear makeup. Use a non-alcohol toner to remove any leftover makeup residue. Moisturize your skin.

I used to have moderate acne. My acne is mostly caused by the acne bacteria. I am more hygienic now than before. I'm using Cerave Foaming Cleanser, Paula's Choice Hydralight Toner, Paula's Choice CLEAR Extra Regular Strength Acne Exfoliant, CLEAR Regular Strength Acne Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, and RESIST Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator. Right now, I have one active breakout. I will be switching to Acne.org's Benzoyl Peroxide because it doesn't have irritating ingredients and it has a better price point. I've learned so much about acne and skincare from Acne.org and Paula's Choice.

I have a Clarisonic and it does not prevent/clear my breakouts. Scrubs can be irritating for acne. I read a study about LED therapy systems work for acne. If you are interested, Michael Todd sells one called, Clear Bi Light.

I suggest a good high coverage concealer with a medium-high coverage foundation. I use Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer and Wet n Wild Coverall Cream Foundation. I heard good things about Dermablend (both foundation and concealer), Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour waterproof concealer, and Make Up Forever Foundations, Estee Lauder foundation, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer.

I had acne when I was young. I tried virtually every face wash known to man kind (lol) nothing worked and I got really depressed, I went to the doctor and took acne tablets and this acne gel creme. It virtually dried my skin but within 3 months I had zero acne. So gradually reduced the medication and moisturised heaps and now things are back to the way my skin was. Give the tablets some time and see if they work! It's like having a battle with your own skin! Stay strong and give it some time :)

Don't let it break you down. I know how insecure a person can feel with it. But sometimes our body, hormones or environment goes through changes :). And it will be okay, I think it's best to leave it alone and not try too much stuff on it to see whether it calms down. Otherwise you could always do to a dermatologist and get it checked, but be sure to know that you are the best judge of your own body and skin and what suits you best. I'm experiencing extreme facial redness these days with a few bumps, it does make me feel quite conscious, but I won't let that bring me down. Good luck! xo.

Washing your face once to get all the makeup off with a gentle cleanser (cetaphil or simple face wash works well) then wash your face another time with a wash for clearer skin (dark angels by lush is great or neutrogena pink grapefruit wash) and a scrub 2/3 times a week (st Ives naturally clear apricot scrub is great!) make sure you dry your face with paper towels or tissues and not a towel, this is more hygienic and it definitely cleared my skin up, follow that with a toner but avoid ones with alcohol (I use tea tree water by lush) I then use the total moisture cream by benefit when I've scrubbed my face and other times I use neutrogena rapid clear spot gel or effaclar duo, the only thing with effaclar is that you need to keep using it everyday otherwise it won't work but when it works its amazing! Hope this helps Hun, your acne will clear up soon and I hope it doesn't get you down too much you are a beautiful no matter what!

Any oil-free, paraben free, full coverage should work.
