So I currently use Proactiv and I have been using it for about a year or so. I'm starting to get a little freaked out though because people are starting to say its bad for your skin. I have oily/combination skin and it has helped my skin a lot, but I've heard it doesn't work in the long run. It was actually a few weeks ago I tried switching up my routine and I tried using my Clinique products that I use to use, and then use Proactiv at night since it is a little harsh. A few days later though, I got a horrible spot on my cheek and I've actually heard that once you stop using Proactiv the acne comes back worse. Should I go ahead and change skin care products? I'm starting to look into the Dermalogica line (I hear Clean Start works very well). Help please!

I started getting breakouts in 3rd grade! It was horrible. I went through hundreds of dollars thinking products would work. I then tried Proactiv and it worked for about 3 months but then I got small bumps all over my forehead with an occasional gigantic pimple here and there. One day I looked into the mirror and started crying, I had reached my breaking point with it. I told my mom she had to schedule me a dermatoligist appointment. Doctor prescribed medication has been the only thing that has worked for me so far. Now, I am a freshman in highschool and everything has been cleared up for about 1 1/2 years. Hope this helped. ;)

Thank you! Yeah, I started getting acne about 5th grade and now I'm a freshman as well! I'm also starting to get small bumps as well. I'm thinking about going to a dermatologist again (they had originally introduced me to Clinique and it sort of worked) to see what they recommend.

Try switching to a Benzoyl Peroxide product and then after weening off of proactive try alternating between B.P. and a gentler wash.
