The back of my legs (hamstrings) are flat practically. I've been working on them for about a month and there's not too much difference.
Does anyone know how long it usually takes?

It all depends on your body specifically and what exactly you're doing to build the muscle there.
A good tip is to use bodybuilding.com to find some very effective workouts for that specific part of your body and then when you're adding weight, add enough to where it's actually hard for you to do the exercise, if it's too easy you won't be building any muscle.

My boyfriends a trainer, he says it depends on what kind of exercises youre doing. If you're doing hardcore leg good workouts you shouldve seen a difference by now. Maybe you're not doing them hard enough or not doing the right ones.

Also your body fat percentage. You could work your muscles for years, if you don't lower your body fat you'll have a bunch of muscle that's hidden under a layer of fat.

^^ Nala is totally right. When you're working on building muscle, it's important to increase your protein and water intake, and decrease the number of carbs in your diet.
Make sure that you're doing a wide variety of exercises, stretching out before and after you workouts, and giving yourself at least 1 or 2 rest days per week so that your muscles have time to repair. And remember, if you're looking at your legs everyday, it can be hard to see the changes because they happen so gradually. If you're activating the right muscles during your workout, and you stick with it, you will see results.
