Hey everyone! so about a month ago I had a hair disaster, dyed it bright pink it was blotchy and too bright for me, so the next day I box dyed it black, the black is harsh and I really hate it, I want to try to lighten it at home but no more bleach if possible, any ideas? Or good products?

It's really hard to strip your hair of black dye. The pigments stick to your hair follicles. Even if you went to a hairdresser it's a lengthy process that takes years to do it properly without killing your hair, the stuff you buy at the store sucks it's practically bleach without saying bleach.

Hairdressers can try to lighten it but be prepared for the ugly colours inbetween

I went from black to bleach blonde and it's terrible for your hair but I will tell you how, I used a highlighting kit from the drugstore and put it all over my hair not just highlights this took my hair from black to about a champaign color then used revlon 03 and left it on for about 20 mins and it lightened it drastically

You could strip your hair not good for it but nothing to get it back light is going to be good

Whatever you do please do not use the garnier box dye has too much oil it claims that it's healthier for yor hair but the more oils the less the color will stick to the follicle

Go to a salon. Is your hair a flat shoe polish black? Color correction can be expensive, but I'm sure you want your hair back as soon as possible. Color does not lift color, Professionals have the knowledge and access to products that will give you desired result.

I was going to go to a salon for Christmas but as the color faded I wondered if I could manage something at home.

I've used color oops on my hair twice and was very happy with the results. It's not harsh on your hair, and you can get the extra conditioning kind just to be safe. You might need to use the color oops twice to get results. It will lighten your hair, I just can't guarantee a color result. It's a great starting point and I would highly recommend giving it a try :) also give your hair a good deep condition!

Black box color is a pain in the butt to remove. if you bleach your hair there's a good chace it will lift up to a pinkish color because of the pink underneath. you got a project on your hands. go to a pro. your hair will still be semi damaged but at least it won't be that bad as if you did it yourself.

Oh boy, thanks ladies, looks like I might need a salon and a bleach just to strip the color entirely, I don't want to try to lighten it with that pink & have it look even worse, I guess I really do need a pro.
