I got an allergic reaction from a vitamin c serum. I normally don't have sensitive skin but my face itches and I have little red bumps but only on my cheeks. Other than the obvious, wash my face with gentle cleanser and not wearing makeup, is there anything I can do or put on it to make the itchiness and bumps go away?

Ouch. Definitely don't scratch as Velen suggested. Use actual aloe vera plant and not the stuff found on a drugstore counter as its loaded with fillers. Sorry you had such a nasty reaction to such a beneficial serum. Who was it by?

You should stop using it and you can put a mask made of oatmeal and water just make it into a paste and leave it on for about 20 min then moisturize.

Irish spring soap does that to my face...turns my whole face red and bumpy. I put cortisone cream on my face, it worked.

Thanks for all the help ladies! Going to try the oatmeal mask right now and maybe go get an aloe plant tomorrow, if I can find one! I've already been taking Benadryl but can't tell if it's working all that much... @ Shelley-if I can't find an aloe plant, should I still not use drugstore aloe? I'll have to look up the vitamin c serum that I used and get back to you. I bought it at Walgreens and returned it today. The name was something "organics".

Aloe plant you can find at a Lowes or Home Depot (I don't know if you're here in the States). If you must go grocery store route...go to a health food store and ask for pure aloe vera (they might even have some in their produce aisle). Just make sure it doesn't contain alcohol if its aloe vera gel in a bottle. If it aloe vera is only available in liquid form that is fine too...just pick up distilled water and a spray bottle with a fine mist option. Mix the distilled water and aloe vera liquid (equally) in the spray bottle and you have yourself a skin soother. Refrigerate everything and only keep the mix in spray bottle for a few days before it goes bad on you.
