There's two questions you should ask yourself before you make a purchase (or, in your case, ask for it for Christmas): 1) Do YOU like it? 2) Do you have at least 3 pieces in your wardrobe you could pair with these shorts? Since those shorts are black I'd imagine there's plenty you could wear with it. Personally, I'd wear a white shirt with some black litas and a beanie with those shorts.

They're not my style, but really shorts in general aren't my style hahaha. If you like them go for it, just make sure you can wear them on multiple occasions

I actually have those and I love them. By far my favorite shorts. They're really easy to dress up or down. They're not for everyone, and that's okay. I think you should get them!

They don't look too cute in the pic, but I'm sure they are in person! and overall the decision is yours, afterall it will be you wearing them. if you have tops that would go nicely with them, go for it! but if you think it'll end up sitting in your closet cause you can't find anything to pair with it, I wouldn't get it!
