I plan on tanning over the winter, but I don't want it to turn my hair blonde. What can I use to protect it to keep it strawberry blonde/ red?

Tanning is great for you, props to you!
Honestly I work at a tanning salon and it doesn't affect your hair as much as you think, but if you really want to take extra precautions here are some :
•wear a heat protectant, this will help resist the you've rays!
•wear a shower cap
•if you're in a bed, put it in a bun and keep it under your head, the bottom bulbs are the least bright

It is good for you. But if you over do it you get cancer. It gives you the vitamin D you need that the sun gives you. I do it over the winter since I don't see the sun. During the summer I don't go tanning. People who get cancer from it go tanning constantly.
Thank you Brittany, this really helped :)

Tanning does not give you skin cancer, burning does. Safe tanning gives you vitamin D that most countries aren't getting enough of, due to lack of sunshine and dependency of sun block (which is absolutely horrible for you, but I won't go into that unless you want a super long rant) Not to mention, even while burning constantly, your chances of getting Melanoma (skin cancer from UV rays) is 1.7 in 100,000 and the chances of dying from it are even lower. About 7 people over the last few years have died of melanoma, most over the age of 40. Vitamin D deficiency (which I can assure you most of us are suffering from) leads to breast cancers, kidney and thyroid problems, and much much more.
