Ok so I'm planning on straightening my hair sometime within the next two weeks. I was looking on youtube for a way to straighten my hair so that it would still have volume. I came across a video where the girl suggested conditioning the hair first and then shampooing last. She said that this would give it more volume b/c there would be no product in the hair when straightening. The only thing she used was a heat protectant spray. Do you think this could be damaging. I mean, wouldn't the shampoo strip my hair of the conditioner I just put in?

Yes, shampoo takes away the nutrients and conditioner puts the oils back in your hair. so technically you would be stripping your hair of natural oils and leaving it very dry. Try dry shampoo it gives a good amount of volume 😊
