So I've tried many different foundations and they all leave a cakey finish! why is this? Is it my skin? or the foundation? they all crack under my eyes too.

Two things.

for the overall "cakey" thing. what serum or moisturizer are you using under it?. if any.

2ndly. for the under eye issue does it crack like dry patches or crack like settle into lines?.

Same happen to me. I stop using them. Now I use BB cream or mix one part of concealer with two parts of moisturizer and works really well for me. Doesn't look cakey, feel light and gives me the same if not more coverage. And I tried at least 20 diferent foundations before, no one works entirely well for me. For the eyes use a primer.

Ho! Forgot. I heard from somebody that after moisturizing you have to wait at least 5 minutes to set and then put foundation. That prevents the the makeup to melt down, she said"

@Naomi I use a clean and clear moisturizer "morning glow" to be exact
and the under eye thing it settles into lines you described it perfectly lol

@Lia hmmm never knew about the 5 min thing. I always do my makeup immediately after moisturizing... yikes

And I've never tried mixing concealer and moisturizer. I have dark circles around my eyes so I need to have at least a medium coverage :(

I use the mix of concealer/ moisturizer instead of tipical foundation. On my eyes I put this garnier tinted anti dark circles roller and then my maybelline eraser dark circles concealer. I can't wear foundation on my eyelids because it settles on the line of my lids too.

For the foundation issue I wouldn't think clean n clear would give you that issue. however I haven't used it and I kinda need to feel the product n look over the ingredients to b sure. but I was going to say, it depends on the moisturizer you use under the foundation.. its like oil n water. they counteract sometimes n seperare making the foundation look cakey.
which foundations are you using. n is your skin oily or dry?.
as far as the sinking. lia is right. use primer. but I'm low maintenance and I don't use primer most days. I switched concealer. I started using bb cream as concealer on light days n fitME concealer on days I need more coverage.
sometimes you need something lighter (in weight)

Make sure you set underneath your eyes with powder to get rid of the creasing. foundation can look cakey from applying either too much foundation or too much powder on top. After you've set your foundation spray a setting spray on top (I would reccomend the NYX Dew me setting spray) this will get rid off the powdery finish.

I think the best way to make perfect your skin is BB cream. I recommend you to "pure beauty" this product is made in korea where the BB creams created and developed first. and I have also garnier BB cream and I'm happy with it.

The moisturizer you're using might not be hydrating enough. Also, try using a hydrating primer to help the problem. Primers make your skin a little more even to prepare it for the actual stuff you put on after. Another thing might be that you're using foundations that aren't made for your actual skin type. Also, maybe try sheering out how much you use. Remember, foundation evens out, not cover.

As for the under eye, I would suggest using a primer. Another thing is setting it with a setting powder!
