How Do You Apply Eyeliner?

Not on yourself, but others!
I was doing someone's makeup this weekend and when it came to eyeliner (which I wanted to be a precise cat eye), I had her close her eyes. She was kind of scrunching and unscrunching her eyes while I was doing it and it really caused me to mess up. I winded up smoking it out with black shadow to hide the flaws.
So how do you ladies apply eyeliner on fidgety clients?

She has to stop scrunching and undsrunching her eyes she has to control it tell her to make big eyes whilr she has her eyes close then aplly eye liner on the top lashes then tell her to open her eye to make the end :)

Thanks, I'll try the tip, but I asked her to stay still and she told me she was trying her best. I believe her.

I usually either have them close their eyes and pull up on the skin under their eyebrow a bit, or I have them look down and do the same. My sister, who never wears makeup and is especially fidgety, ends up with a nice crisp line every time! :)
