Okay so maintaining my hair as of lately just seems to be a never ending fiasco..
I have naturally blonde hair, it looks golden blonde but I'm not sure it actually is since I live on well water. The heavy minerals in my well water weigh really heavily in my hair and make it look more dingy and brassy than it probably actually is. I have tried dying my hair lighter in the past both at home and professionally, the colour fades and darkens when I do it at home and either develops a dingy greenish and brassy tinge or when I went to the hair dresser the dye was too strong for my hair (my hair is fine but I have lots of it) so it got really damaged and lots fell out and I had to cut a lot of my hair off to get rid of the damage. It has been two years since I've put any kind of dye in my hair, I have collar bone length virgin blonde hair now and I've tried things like treatments for heavy mineral exposed hair and swimmers treatments, I've tried a couple John Freida products as well as other purple shampoos and conditioners and some Wella toners, none of which seemed to make that much of a difference on my hair. My hair stylist gave me a couple packets of treatments to try and they do seem to make more of a difference than some of the things I've tried, they brightened my hair up quite a bit, but they're a little on the expensive side and don't really fix the colour they just remove the dinginess. I've heard a lot of good reviews on the Fudge clean violet toning shampoo so I was wondering weather or not anyone's tried it and if you have to have coloured hair in order for it to work or if it would work on virgin hair? please let me know what your thoughts and opinions are, well water is a nightmare! haha

Your hair may not be light enought to tone, if you were to lighten virgin hair it should work perfectly if you wanted a lighter blonde look :)

Go to the salon and get an actual Malibu treatment and use a clarifying shampoo twice a week. Kenra clarifying shampoo is good. I have well water myself and it's extremely hard and it works for me. After that, it's just your hair color. You can try the toning shampoo but I am unsure if it puts a build up on the outer layer of the hair or if it absorbs into the hair. I'm guessing it absorbs and if that is the case virgin hair doesn't absorb things very well since it's isn't as porous.

And if what they used damaged your hair I'm guessing it was bleach or color mixed with high volume developer. Tell them not to use anything higher than 20 volume. Since you're blonde you don't need it. My natural blonde goes straight to platinum with bleach and 20 volume developer and I believe it's darker than yours.
