Use a phillips or brawn straightner! its not bad and if your worried about damaging them so use a loreal paris styling spray! it works!

Straighten it without heat then.

How do you expect her to straighten her hair without heat? Anyway, I use a Chi Air Flat Iron, and it's perfect! Even after a year, it's still just like new. I will keep it until it dies on me! Also, use a good hear protectant on your hair! Do not straighten (or blow dry, curl, etc.) without it! I use the Frizz-ease brand, but you can just pick one up from your local store and it should be fine. :)

The best thing I can recommend you is a tension brush. You can get it from Sally's. It will give you the optimum results if you do that and the comb chase (hold he brush or comb right in front of the straightened and glade down the hair)

You might try Bed Head, they have a shine spray that's also a heat protectant pretty sure it's called Head Rush. They also have a product for straightening hair.

Use some pro naturals argan oil! It's a heat protector that doubles as a leave-in. Healthy hair all round :)
