Hi ladies. So I've been using the St Ives apricot scrub but I've been reading up on them and heard they are TERRIBLE for your skin but I really love how exfoliating it is! Do you have any recommendations for others that will work just as well??

Don't exfoliate everyday limit it to like 3 times and try exfoliating at night so you can remove the days toxins. I have this Aveeno brightening cleanser comes in a green tube it has beads in it too but it's super light gives you that deep clean but so soft for everyday plus makes my skin all pretty

I switched from st.ives to alba botanica much more natural with willow bark and they also have an exfoliating scrub that is nice but I agree you should only exfoliate 2-3 times a week - a more gentle exfoliant without beads is glycolic acid - I like the foaming glycolic acid cleanser by mario badescu - its very gentle but still exfoliates by sloughing away dead skin cells that may be clogging pores.

I have been using the loreal go 360 clean wash and I love it because it isn't over drying. It comes with a little scrubber in case you want to gently exfoliate!

@ Rougette S. I use the Aveeno brightening cleanser as well & love it. If I try using something else my face just doesn't agree with it.

CLINIQUE CLINIQUE CLINIQUE CLINIQUE.
They have cleansers for every skin type, and I honestly cannot describe how amazing my skin feels after. I completely switched over, and use the entire 3 step system. My dry skin and eczema completely cleared up and I no longer get breakouts!
It's all fragrance free, allergy tested, and made with dermatologists!

As for exfoliating, it is best to do it about twice a week. It is important as it removes dead skin cells and encourages cell-renewal. BUT the problem with exfoliators is that unless the exfoliating beads are perfectly round, they can cut your skin and cause damage. A lot of exfoliators out there, especially drug store kinds, do not have perfectly circular beads. Again, Clinique has you covered. The 7-day scrub is gentle and won't cut your skin!

I work at Sephora and I have tried practically every cleanser in the market including drugstore brands. The best cleanser for me is Fresh Soy facial cleanser. It takes off my makeup without the lather. Lathering cleansers actually strip your skin of essential oils. I would recommend trying the fresh. At sephora they have a small gift set of soy facial cleanser for 19.50 and you get the sugar lip treatment too. You could also just go into Sephora and use the skincare IQ to find a perfect cleanser for you because everybody is different. They are more than willing to provide you with samples to take home and try out! Good luck and I hope you find the perfect cleanser!

I'm sorry, your question washer about exfoliates, kind of got off topic talking about a cleanser. I agree with Diana, try a cleanser that has glycol ice acid such as Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Cleanser.

Personally, I do not prefer any cleanser with exfoliating beads especially if you have sensitive skin. I'm currently using the bioderma sebium cleansing foam because it is very gentle on the skin & it cleans all the dirt and bacteria on my face.

For exfoliation & cleansing try using;
Raw honey and brown sugar. Honey is anti bacterial and will soothe your skin. I find that honey and brown sugar leaves my skin so so soft... add others oils to your liking. Many like to add olive oil. I used to use St. Apricots and still find this to do a much more better job. Before switching to using natural products I still wasn't able to find a product to beat Honey & Brown Sugar. Honey improves acne too.
Oatmeal. Oatmeal is gentle enough to exfoliate with everyday and using as a cleanser. I find that oatmeal is very soothing so my skin does not get any redness. I blend oatmeal up in a blender and exfoliate and cleanse my skin with it. I usually like to use it in the morning.
You can also make a oatmeal and honey mask. After 15 minutes it will harden, and that will make it an exfoliating scrub/mask because it's the only way to take off the oatmeal.
