It depends on what your needs are!! I'll come back to see what you're looking for to see if I can offer any tips. My skin is a pain so I have tried lots and lots methods, also. Personally I am loving the Urban Decay Naked foundation!

I am loving the NARS Sheerglow and Urban Decay Naked foundations at the moment! Great fair shades in a natural/dewy finish with light-medium coverage.
Oh! With my NARS light reflecting pressed powder over-top. ♥
What kind of finish to the skin are you looking for? Coverage? Are you normal, dry, oily, or combination skinned?

Choosing a good foundation is just like choosing a good face wash. it all depends on what type of skin you have and what your specific needs are. a foundation that's great for oily, acne prone skin may not be so great for dry, sensitive skin and so on. I would go to sephora and talk to an associate with tons of product knowledge to see what they recommend. be weary though! if you get the feeling they're just trying to sell you THEIR favorite foundation or the most expensive etc. move on to an other associate.

I suggested sephora because I do know that they train their associates extensively about their products.

Well depends on your skin type.
Dry skin- mac face and body (coverage light can almost be medium).
combination skin- lancome (medium coverage can be full)
oily/combination skin- makeover hd (medium to full coverage). Estee lauder double wear (full coverage)
oily skin- makeup forever matte (medium to full coverage).
I have all these foundations and play around with them because my skin changes up a lot. I don't so much like the mufe matte for me I think its best for someone whose skin is super oily and found it to dry for myself. Hope this helps (:
NOTE: most face and body foundations are good for drybskin because of there dewy finish and they are light so I'd say if you can get one of those and get a good full coverage foundation like the estee lauder double wear. most foundations are buildable and for maximum coverage you can use a bb cream as your base and to make a foundation less coverage mix with a little moisturizer before use. Hope this helps :)

The L'Oreal true match is a great foundation, it leaves a healthy, slightly glow finish, that looks natural. And the coverage is very good and build-able! Plus its inexpensive!
