I also wear extensions. Basically curl your hair in layers, and alternate one curl facing your back and one curl facing your face. Also, curl different sized sections of hair so you have a lot of variety and to keep it from looking to neat.
Lastly, put your hands in a "prayer" position with your hair in the middle. (Like you are flat ironing your hair with your hands.) Then rub your hands back and forth like you are trying to warm your hands when it's cold out. This will add some texture to the curls. :-)
