So my natural colour is like light brown or dark dirty blonde. Would I be able to lighten it by using purple shampoos?

No, Purple shampoo is meant to remove unwanted brassy tones from blonde or lightened hair...it doesn't remove pigment at all.

Yeah purple shampoo never really helped make it lighter... I woukd just get highlights :)

No but you can use the John freida go lighter sheer blonde set. It works really good(:
