Get the Parian Spirit brush spray they sell here on Beautylish. The full set with a cleaning jar, travel spray, an refill for both is $23 and it AMAZING. I have white brushes that come out white again because of that stuff.
As for foundation I have no clue.

I second the parian spirit, but do not soak your brushes in it! It can dissolve the glue that holds the bristles in. No idea on the drug store foundation, I use ud naked and Napoleon Perdis.

I just spray mine on the brush two or three times, wipe it back and forth across a paper towel, and I'm good. I use the Makeup Forever HD foundation.

Revlon color stay is amazing stuff. I used to wear Mac foundation but find the revlon one is just as good.

If it's a makeup brush that has heavy makeup then I use olive oil and rub it the brush on a napkin with the olive oil. It removes all of the makeup. I then use Dawn Dishwashing soap. For those brushes that don't have as much makeup I use the Ulta brush cleaner. It's pretty good.

I saw on YouTube where a girl said she uses baby shampoo but I haven't tried that one yet. Right now I'm using Mary Kay brush cleaner for $10. It works but it has like a fragrance to it.
