Hello you lovely beautylish people :)

I feel like I have a strange, difficult skintone. I have a hard time finding the right shades. I know there is rarely that ONE perfect foundation/powder shade, but it'd be nice not to go buy a bottle of foundation from Walmart that's not too light or too dark! I think Revlon ColorStay foundation (for normal/dry skin) in True Beige blends on my skin fine, but it definitely looks too dark from outside of the bottle. Love that foundation btw, but they have less shade choices for the normal/dry category of foundation. I'm also 210 (sandy beige) in the Maybelline Fit Me line, but that's not really my favorite foundation.

I also LOVE the L'Oreal true match pressed powder, but N2 (classic ivory) is too light for my face and N3 (natural buff) is too dark. I'm not sure if my undertone is warm, neutral, or cool.

I have visibly blue veins, which I heard is characteristic of cool skin undertone. I have very dark brown hair with red undertones that are visible in the sun, and dark brown eyes. Doesn't that mean warm? My skin is a medium tone with slightly yellow/olive undertones--neutral?? I'm part white and part Vietnamese--maybe that's why my skin tone is a bit weird :P

You should get a few color samples from Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown. I have an in-law who is part white and Vietnamese and she had the exact same problem till she found perfect matches with those two lines. Being biracial its difficult to find that perfect match.

Please, go try NARS Sheer Glow foundation or NARS Matte foundation, get a sample from Sephora first, i think you will love it!

Thanks for the help guys! @Shelley--do you know if she had a warm, neutral, or cool undertone? I seem to be an odd hybrid, so I guess that's neutral.

um you could go to a mac counter and get matched, but is hard to say...
lemme think, ok here some tips to get in consideration.
1. always when applying foundation make sure there is natural sun light, otherwise the foundation could look good, but when U walk out it might turn out not really great.
2. As for undertones, tipycally the blue veins mean u are cool, but for instance, my veins are green, so I have a warm undertone, but not so yellow(means I still have a little bit of pink that is not even visible).
I used to apply a really yellow foundation that turned a mess,so even if you got cool undertones your range of color could have a bit of yellow.
3. mix and match your own foundation, probably the only way to get the shade you are.
4. The coverage you want is also important, remember when U are mixing foundations to see if they are both waterbased or whatever the main ingredient is.
I think that is it, is very hard sometimes to get your true color, what I did was get samples of foundations, sometime I got from ben nye or any other cosmetic companny and see what matched me best.
hope this helps a little :)
