How do I prevent razor bumps when shaving vaginal area?

Soaking in warm bath water before shaving, exfoliating before and after, using a clean razor, and there are some awesome creams/gels made by bikinizone that you apply after shaving to prevent and treat bumps. Ice helps to reduce the swelling and pain of existing ones as well.

This sounds weird, but I read somewhere that if after you shave your bikini area put some deodorant over it to prevent bumps.
