I love using hot rollers! They can make completely different curls depending on the "setting pattern" which is basically how you place them in your hair, what direction you roll the hair in, and what size you use. I use the rollers with a smaller circumference around my face and the larger curlers in the back of my hair. The large rollers at the back of your head will create those long loose curls/waves, and the smaller ones will create the tighter, more structured waves/curls around your face. The curl shape also changes depending on the placement of the rollers. Placing them vertically or horizontally or diagonally will change how they fall.
Sorry that's kinda random and general... Are there any hair styles in particular that you like to wear? I can definitely try to suggest a couple tips depending on the results you want =)

Take very very large sections and roll loosely around large barrels. It'll give you a flowy, beachy curl like the VS models!
