Using cell phones (because there's a lot of dirt on the screen), this can be reduced by using anti bacterial wipes
pillows are also a reason, they should be changed regularly

Could be from the pillows or from your hair touching your face (especially if you get pimples on the sides of your face near your ears). To reduce swelling I would try a face scrub and keep foundation off your cheeks for a little while.
