If you had to choose, which brand of makeup brushes would you say is the BEST? and why!
MAC, sigma, crown, ELF...?

I personally think it depends on the brushes. I have a couple of MAC brushes that work amazingly well but I also use a few Walmart ones that I find just as good. Good brushes are something that you should invest in so find something that works well for you.

I have a few "best" makeup brushes, but I'm sure I could find even better ones! As of now I love my EcoTools brushes- I have a mini set and a large set- eyeshadow brushes, blush brushes, you name it! They were my first newbie MU junkie brushes-great for beginners. Rite Aid carries them and believe it or not Rite Aid has their own line of pretty professional/high quality makeup brushes- there are so many different kinds with sleek, grippy handles and synthetic brushes. I have a few Sephora brush sets as well, and I recommend their lip brushes, especially. I have a few ELF face brushes that work great. For the beginner makeup artist, Sonia Kashuik brushes are a great and more affordable addition to your kit, as well as makeup brushes/supplies from Sally's Beauty.

MAC would definitely be the best and the most high quality brushes, but Sigma and ELF Studio Line brushes are also great and only $3 each. I have all of them and I love them and use them on a daily basis. But out of those three I would probably go with a Sigma Brush Set :)

It's hard to say one brand across the board is completely amazing. Some brushes that I've been super blown away by are the Real Techniques brushes. I have a little kit of brushes with the orange handles and I LOVE them to death! Super soft, super dense, and they do the job like no other.

Definitely my faves right now are Real Techniques. I bought almost every one at ulta.com, mostly because I had watched a zillion Pixiwoo videos and they showed how to use all of them. I've been using them for about a month and seriously love how soft, fluffy and easy to use they all are. Faves!!

In my opinion, you could find a good eyeshadow brush anywhere, even the craft store! I'm totally in love with the Sonia Kashuk line at target, it's super cheap and they last forever. As for face brushes though, I would say Mac is the best. They don't shed, they're super soft, and make foundation and blush apply beautifully.

I love Sonia Kashuk brushes. They are amazing quality and very affordable. I just bought a set of five or six brushes for $15.00 and they are great. They also last a long time.

MAC, hands down. It just depends on what your budget is. But these are brushes that you are, hopefully, going to have for a long time. And the tools you use do help you apply better.
I was using my hands to apply my foundation and recently bought an Elf foundation brush for $1. That, alone, was an improvement. :)

I really like Sonia Kashuk and Eco Tools they're some of the best drugstore brushes I've tried. I have a powder brush from Rite Aids Renewal line and its amazing.

I LOVE my sigma brushes. I don't know if they are the best but I swear by them. Sonia Kashuk is extremely reliable as well!

I love the Real Techniques brushes to death. But I also have MAC, Sigma and Crown brushes that are really nice. The E.L.F ones I have (and I have probably 10 of them) tend to be really scratchy, but you get what you pay for. I picked up one of the Target brand (Up and UP, I think) crease brushes the other day and it's shockingly good.

Personally, I've only owned ELF brushes and they are great! They are super inexpensive and really good quailty! I also LOVE Ecotools brushes!

ELF brushes generally are good quality but not always consistent. I think Crown brushes are excellent.

I agree with Derval, Crown brushes are super! I own a few of Sonia Kashuk brushes as well and they have never let me down. My best crease brush is by Royal and Langnickel and I am completely in love with it!

Of the ones you asked about - I'd have to say MAC if I had to choose...
...BUT I love my Hakuhodo and Louise Young brushes to pieces! If I had to list them in order: Hakuhodo > Louise Young > MAC. ELF is at the VERY BOTTOM of my list, but still decent brushes. Sigma's synthetic face kit [F-series] are awesome, but can't say much for their regular brush line. I don't know if I could live without my F80 for foundation application. =D

Depends on the usage of them and how offten you use them. Saphora has some nice ones that can be used on a constant daily baisis, you can clean them and they wount get all brittle after they dry. Avon has some nice inexpensive ones, how ever, after a few too many washes I personaly dont feel that you can use them again. So they would be used spareingly. Mac has some nice expensive ones, but it all goes in yr walet I guess.

MAC has amazing quality brushes! I have had some of my MAC brushes for years and they still look brand new. I have had some good luck with some coastal scents brushes. I think that those are kind of hit or miss. I have found some decent liner and shadow brushes at coastal scents but I really trust MAC for blending brushes. Is it just me or does a good blending brush make ALL the difference? I <3 my 224 & 217!!

My favorites remain Ecotools ! They are so soft & work well for me at a very good price - I don't spend a lot of money beucause I'm at start and it's not the right time for professional brushes . Uh , they are also eco-friendly ! :)

First off, I prefer synthetic brushes. I have some from Urban Decay, The Body Shop, Elf and Sigma. But my must-have die-without brush is a cheap pencil brush from a brand called Marionnaud. They have more expensive natural hair stuff, but I got that and a concealer brush which are both synthetic and very good.
