I've been dyeing my hair bright red for a few years now and can't seem to find that perfect bright red that isn't orange, they always fade out after one wash while using cold water and color protecting shampoo. Please help!!

Go to a salon, and if you don't want to keep going back ask the hair dresser what kind of hair dye she used.

What color was your hair before you dyed it Elyscia? And the salons I've gone to never do it bright enough, and it fades within a few days, even with them bleaching my hair prior

My hair is not red but I had wanted it red RED so I have a lot of insight on it...buy the manic panic red dye and a WHITE conditioner mix the manic panic with your conditioner and wash & condition hair normal *try yo leave the conditioner in for at least 5 mins* The manic panic is not really a dye its more of a rinse when your talking chemicals so NO it won't harm your hair to do this so often

I used directions dye - it was either poppy red or pillarbox red - and I swear it took forever to fade! And because it was pink tones and not orange based, when it faded it didn't go that awful coppery colour, it looked gorgeous as it faded, and the dye isn't damaging on your hair at all :) best red dye I've ever used.

If you don't have red or blonde hair, and you are trying to keep it red red, you should really be using colour specific care products as well. There are lots of red shampoos and conditioners out there, specifically for those trying to maintain their red dye jobs.

SFX cherry bomb is my favorite red, with nuclear red a close second (but it's orange-toned)
