Ok, so I'm in search of my perfect foundation. I have combination oily skin with golden undertones. I live in an area where I only have a Macy's/Dillard's that has mainstream brands Lancome, Clinique, and Estee Lauder. There is also a nearby ULTA (the nearest Sephora is almost 2 hours away). I have very limited choices. Every time I get matched, it's never that perfect match. It's either too light/dark or the undertones are wrong. Most brands don't go deep enough for me. I've been to the Clinique counter several times in the last month. I couldn't find the perfect. Maybe I'm being too picky but I want that perfect foundation that doesn't make me look ashy or ruddy. I bought a foundation from Lancome for $44 (Teint Idole Ultra 24H). I just bought it because I felt like theses people are probably thinking that I'm just taking up too much of their time. I love the formulation but the color isn't perfect. I want to return it but there goes another long journey. Beauties, is this too much? Do you makeup artists at the counters get frustrated by picky customers like me? I just want that perfect foundation. Has anyone else been through that treacherous foundation journey? Anyone have foundation suggestions?

have u tried revlon colorstay?

The Teint Idole 24H wasn't a good color match? Return it (you totally can) and ask them to re-color match you and then give you a 10 day sample of the color so you can be sure it works. They have some of the best colors I've seen from what you said is available.

im not sure if you have seen any neutrogena products near you, but the nuetrogena healthy skin is a great product and it came in a lot of colours possibly trying one of those would works its only around 11 dollars and has great coverage and would make your skin more oily at all, it also helps with acne if ou have trouble with that. if you can find some id definately give it a try.

Revlon Colorstay doesn't go deep enough for me. Kimberly, my local Macy's/Dillard's has no WOC there any longer. I'll probably take it back and find another foundation. Thanks everyone!

Maybe you could try mixing your foundations to make it match your skin better? I have had the same problem at Macy's and I am white! lol One girl matched me with a foundation that I kid you not was orange! I would try to get as many samples as you could and play around with them and I would keep asking to get color matched and tell them where your coming from. I hope you find the foundation your looking for =]

Thanks LeeAnn. Yea that's what I should do. I've had that Lancome foundation for about 3 weeks now because I was trying to decide if I want to take it back. I haven't opened it but have been using the sample which has lasted for a while. If I keep it, I'd have to mix it. But, for $44 a pop, that's a lot. I hope that they take it back.

Liesha, honey I say don't purchase anything you really don't want I don't care how long you are at the counter because in most cases the so called makeup artist know no more than the customer that is coming up trying to purchase the makeup. Have you tried black radiance or black opal foundations or maybe even Mac? Mac foundations usually oxidizes to a darker color.other than that like a couple of other people mention you may have to do some mixing.

I use Make Up Forever 175 and I love it. I agree with Kimberly M's post about letting another woman of color match you. I went to the Sephora store and was matched and I am very satisfied and pleased with this particular brand of foundation and I love that Sephora lets you sample the product before you buy. Hope this helps and good luck.

I just posted my very first blog post today on the Mac Match Master foundation and I love it! I have the same problem with the undertones of foundation being off on me and never getting the right shade but this is wonderful! The shades do go pretty dark so it might work for you! Also it's great with my oily skin and holds up great through out the day. Here is the link!

Here are my favorites:
Revlon ColorStay!!!
Maybelline SuperStay
Rimmel Lasting Finish
Rimmel Clean Finish
REVLON COLORSTAY offers great coverage, blends wonderfully, and lasts a long time! An even cheaper alternative is Rimmel lasting finish! They have less shades but they are excellent, long lasting foundations. Rimmel clean finish is good for sensitive skin, and Rimmel match perfection offers medium coverage with some great shade selection! Maybelline SuperStay lasts quite a while as well, but I think I prefer Revlon over Maybelline, foundation wise.

@Anasa I probably will end up having to mix foundations. I just didn't want to have to do that. As soon as I can make it to Sephora, please believe I will get lots of samples lol. It's upsetting that most brands don't go deep enough. @Gennett I haven't tried black radiance or black opal. I heard about it though. @Felicia the only reason I don't try those brands is because they don't go deep enough for my skin tone. Thanks everyone for your comments. I will keep them inn ind and it's definitely appreciate it. :-)

It's a good idea to go to Sephora when you can and grab a bunch of samples, so when you try them out and decide you like one, you can just order it online if you don't want to drive out and get it. :) I was also on a journey looking for my perfect foundation. So far, my HG is Estee Lauder Double Wear! I'm always down to try others though in the slight chance I'll find something better. Good luck with your search, lovey! :)

@Liesha Ahh, I see. Do you know if L'Oreal true match does?

I heard Rimmel foundations run pretty deep, but they don't have the biggest shade selection.

@Felicia I've never tried Rimmel. @Deja I want to try MAC foundations but I just hate to have to pick one out online. The closest MAC store is 2 hours away as well.. Thanks guys for the input.
