You kinda start with your skin type first. Are you dry, oily, or combo. Is your skin tone warm, cool, or neutral. What type of coverage do you need.

Ummmmm my skin is more oily than dry and I don't know about the skin tone how do I know?

Look at the inside of your forearms. See the veins there? If they look more blue, you're probably cool undertones. If you see green veins, you're warm. So, blue veins = cool skin, green veins = warm skin.

Another way.. Do you look better wearing more silver jewelry or gold. Silver = cool Gold = Warm. If you look good in both your probably neutral. Meaning you can go either cool or warm.

Ok.. Well since your oily and warm your going to be looking for foundations that say oil free or long lasting, warm, and so on..Try and find one that looks closest to your skin color in that category. It's going to be a lot of trial and error tying out foundations and not all are going to work. I guess to start you out I'll just tell you what I like. I personally like liquid and use my fingers to blend my foundation, but you can also use a foundation brush or sponge some methods work better for some and not so much for others. I havent tried it yet but I've heard in here that revlon is a good foundation for oily skin. Hope that helped. You should check out some YouTube channels to maybe further help if I haven't explained enough.

Arlicia, it may get tough because there's other factors to consider such as, is your skin acne prone? Do have dark spots? This will determine whether or not you need full coverage, light coverage or medium coverage. I suggest you take what you know about your skin and track down someone who works in the beauty section of your drugstore and have them help you pick out the right product for you.

It's also important to consider if you need coverage or not. Is your face prone to redness or acne? If you have acne spots or red spots, you should look for a fuller coverage foundation and some concealer. For foundation, Revlon Color Stay is fantastic, and concealer, I'm a fan of Hard Candy's Glamoflauge. If you're very acne prone, try Neutrogena. If you take a look around the beauty section in your drugstore, someone might be able to help you out. It will take a few tries to get it right.
