I have a reverse ombre... can I rock a regular?

Can I change the black to blonde without it looking brown? I'm getting it professionally done but I'm kinda nervous about the color. Do I have to bleach it? Here's the color it is now.

To get you hair to be a lighter color than it is now, you have to use a bleach or "lightener." Color itself cannot lift color. If you're worried about damage, take stock of your hair. How long since you colored the ends? Do you heat style? True color damage comes from layering color over bleached hair. If you bleach and get a tone you don't particularly like, opt for a semi or Demi permanent color for a while. Otherwise you'll get ends like mine..

Yes you definitely have to lighten "bleach" your hair first because its obvious that going from black to blonde is just way to many levels up. unless you decides on only going 4 levels up than you wouldn't necessarily need to lighten "bleach" first. 5 levels and up most definitely.
