Directions is really good, it's semi permanent. The color is gorgeous and they have different shades and low cost :)

Usually purples aren't permanent - you can find a semi permanent in most beauty supply stores or demi permanent (if you know someone who is licensed and can get it for you). May I ask what shade of purple you are looking for?

The darker purple the longer it last (that's my experience at least) I've used manic panic for 7 years and it never disappointed but now I've discovered Directions and that's REALLY good because even the pastel colors are long lasting. One tip is also to have the hair color in longer time than said on the bottle that makes it more 'in' in your hair, and it last longer because its more filled. Hope I make sense :)

There's a brand at sallys called n' rage and I had the purple last year and it lasts a long time and is demi permanent!

I've used that pravana shade twice... Washed out completely (even on bleached pieces) within a month... And was very messy, bled every single time I washed my hair. I had to keep Saran Wrap in my bathroom to wrap around my neck while blow drying it just to avoid a purple neck.., also ruined quite a few of my shirts.

Ha - yeah that's one of the drawbacks from it. I had a roommate use their dark blue and although it stayed for a long time, we had to change the shower curtain every other week until she finally bought a blue shower curtain to solve the problem.

Lol... I actually went out and purchased two deep purple towels after using that dye. Don't get me wrong, the color was beautiful when I would get it done, but so not worth the hassle. Ill be reaching for manic panic or special fx if I wanna do purple again.

I use the Pravana purple, I really like it. It does come out a little, but mine usually lasts 6 weeks where it's really vibrant and then it fades a bit, enough that I prefer to recolor.
