I have an issue w the heavy silicone based ones. moat will say they help w the staying power of the foundation but I find when I use some they break down and turns a mess. UD is really the one I have in mind that does it most. I've recienty tried NYX pore filler I don't find it as heavy. I use it w Paula's choice shine stopper and so far so good

Thanks Danny C. I have smashbox as well and it's not doing the job for me either. My forehead and nose makeup ends up melting up and looking a hot mess midday. I will have to try the NYX one.

Typically the silicone based ones are best for people with dry skin, including the ones with dimethecone, like the monistat chafing gel. If you're skin is oily, the ones at the drugstore typically don't have silicone. L'Or?al studio face primer is actually quite good. Also to set your makeup when you are done, the urban decay de-slick is amazing in combination oily skin (mine included).

Not sure what this contains, but I don't care because it is insanely amazing!! DHC Velvet Skin Coat is the best primer I've ever tried!! (www.dhcskincare.com) And I'm a product whore! It really does make your face look and feel soft and velvety. A little goes a long way, and it's not oily but it spreads nicely, sitting lightly but keeping the look all day. Its kind of embarrassing when I wear it actually, because People keep looking... they notice there's something different (cause I don't use it all of the time--guess its a major improvement tho when I do!), and they usually ask what I've done to make my face look so smooth. The 3rd graders in my son's class all try to touch my face when I have it on, and they just sit there in awe and tell me how soft I look! So funny! Hah.. My grandmother would roll over in her grave if she knew I stumbled upon this holy grail!!
