I use the Clinique three step anti blemish skin care routine, the moisture surge spray, occasional exfoliation with the St. Ives apricot scrub and the Clinique anti blemish mask. I have severe acne on my forehead only, which seems cystic and is extremely painful. I wear concealer and powder everyday but remove it as soon as I can. My t zone is oily and my cheeks are normal, but my forehead gets oily/flakey. Anybody got any suggestions?

Talk to a dermatologist or doctor, cystic acne is difficult to clear by yourself. They got stronger stuff and know what they are doing :)

Use dermologica products they are phenomenal and much cheaper than clinig.

^^ I agree! I tried all of the so called 'miracle cleansers' and masks, and the only thing that worked for me was Accutane. See your doctor (he will probably give you the same advice a dermatologist would, but for half the price). He will probably put you on a topical gel or medication, and if you're not happy with the results after a few months, you can ask him about more 'drastic' options like birth control or Accutane. Just remember to be patient; everything takes a while to work!

I recommend using the Cetaphil cleanser for oily/acne-prone skin, with witch hazel and rosewater as a toner, aqueous cream as a moisturizer, and tea trea oil as a spot treatment. In my experience, it's better for your skin not to be exposed to so many different chemicals. Alternatively, I really loved the Dermalogica Clean Start kit. Good luck!

Cystic acne is acne combined with cysts, if you have it you need to get them drained or surgucally removed, and even then cysts still grow back. It's quite unlikely that you have them if you take good care of your skin though.

For skin care, try anything with Benzoyl Peroxide, from 5-10% for fast acting. Benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria and dries out the acne, it is also the most researched ingredient and has the highest success rate.

Make sure you're not over washing, when you have your makeup on leave it on till you're done for the day, because washing it off over and over can dry out your skin, causing your skin to overproduce oils to compensate, this may cause clogged pores.

If it's on your forehead, your bangs might also be a problem, make sure they're always clean and that you're not getting hair product on your forehead, try pinning them back for a little while.

I read In 17 magazine that you shouldn't wash your face everyday. And on the days you don't you could use a cream. So what I'm doing is using face wash every other day. And I switch between 2 face washes so that my skin doesn't get use to one (also in 17) the cream I use is clearasil vanishing cream. You should try it it works really well!

If that's the later issue of 17 I have it :) I used to use the clean start kit but it didn't help me. As for my acne, they are painful hard lumps under my skin and when it gets too much I will (this is really bad I know) I pierce them with a needle to get the fluid out. Also, I have bangs but they're on the other side of my face to my acne, under then it's almost perfectly clear *sigh* shame it gets covered. Thanks for your help everyone!

If your forehead gets really oily then maybe you shouldn't use moisturizer. I think maybe you should talk to a dermatologist if it doesn't get any better.

When you go to bed, put a clean pillow case on your pillow each night and eventually your face will start to clear up. also, wear makeup as less as possible.

If they're painful and hard they're probably Nodules, treat them like regular acne. Also, since they're below the skin you need to exfoliate about once or twice a week to try and get them to come on to the surface or they could just stay there forever. Try a chemical peel once a month or once every 2 months.

I usually just go by natural methods getting lots of sleep, diet, and exercise. Used to do the whole cleansing, mild toner, followed by a rich moisturizing cream, bla bla bla. To be honest I recommend you check out Clear Skin Forever, theres a review on it at: I usually just go by natural methods getting lots of sleep, diet, and exercise. I used to use an acne wash but it dried out my face so now I use Cetaphil normal to oily gentle cleanser. Make sure you're not over exfoliating because I used to and it gave me whiteheads.

Oh and you use a acne cleanser or exfoliated twice a week and I've seen improvement in my skins condition less blackheads etc.
