Okay this sound creepy but can you describe the setting casual or fancy? and this will sound really odd but play down the makeup if it's a first date. So maybe foundation and mascara and lose braid your hair, so you have a natural curl.

Yeah just a simple wave and minimal makeup. My bf, even though he had no idea how makeup works, knows when I over due it and when it's more played down. So that's why I suggest light make up (:

Like Meagan said, definitely play it down!! My boyfriend knows exactly when I'm wearing more makeup than I would normally, so go for a comfy amount. Don't go OTT with layers of foundation and blush and eyeliner and eye shadow and mascara and everything, what will do you is a light coverage of foundation (if you wear it, I personally don't wear it at all!), bit of eyeliner at the outers of your eyes to define the lashes, few coats of mascara. You want to not wear so much you look like you're going clubbing, but not like you've not made any effort whatsoever:)
