I received both the eye shadow kit and the lipstick kit, from diycosmetics.com for a present from my brother and i wish he would have just bought me makeup at sephora.
The lipstick kit was a mess to clean up after wax stays on everything. the color pay off of the lipstick was not even comparable to a dollar store lipstick, and the texture was like a mixture of cottage cheese and petroleum jelly.
The eye shadow kit was even worse, the pigments went everywhere and it is very hard to make a neutral color that is flattering.
There is a reason why chemists get paid so much to make our cosmetics and after this project i don't think they get paid enough.

I showed my husband this (he's a chemist) and yes DIY make-up is a mess. At least in a lab setting you have the necessary equipment to keep things super clean and neat. He hates those DIY make-up kits because ever so often he'll come across a consumer who had a bad reaction that required medical attention. :(
