Hey make up lovers, I been having an issue w my foundation routine. I been using MAC for I don't know how long, but I don't use it every time. I been thinking that every time I used this foundation, I break out? Should I try not to keep using it until it clears out? Should I try another product? I might be breaking out hormonally lol.

Hi Rafael,

Where on your face are you breaking out? Do you generally have oily/acne prone skin? Also what type of breakouts are they -- cystic, whiteheads, etc.? What are you using to remove your makeup? This will better help determine the cause of your breakouts.

Try giving it a break and see what happens, it could be a hormonal change or what you are eating, greasy foods can play a part in this.

Also try a a acne srub with sacylic acid to help clear it out.

I hear this is a problem with some MAC foundations. I would try a different formula! Angel O is right, it could be anything from hormones to diet or even stress level.

MAC foundations are well known to break out sensitive skin. I say switch products! I threw out all my MAC foundations... Haha.

Alicia- I been breaking out on my right cheek. I have combination skin, my breakouts are more on the red, blemish side. When I remove my makeup I'm using this Pound makeup remover/cleanser.

Also I stopped smoking for a period of time and I cheated for a week and I noticed that I started breaking out?? Maybe that's part of it or maybe can be hormonal?? I went ahead n bought a Clarisonic n some Murad products.

It could be from using your phone if its just on one cheek. Use a Clorox wipe to disinfect your phone if that's the side you use to talk on.

It doesn't sound hormonal as these would be primarily around the jawline and chin. If it's only on one cheek, it's likely what Jacquie said - either your phone or your pillow case. Wash your pillow case and use a screen cleaner or even a BeautySoClean wipe to wipe off the makeup, oils and debris from your phone. Good luck!
