My younger sister is coming into her freshman year, so I'm helping her out with some makeup basics. I'm doing my best, but I don't know everything- are there any begginers tips you could share to help her out?

Prime everything, and don't be afraid to mess up and experiment.

Tell her to watch youtube tutorials. If she does a search for beginners make up she will find loads of useful stuff. Also tell her to make a beautylish account.

I say sun screen and water proof makeup.I'm not for the full on foundation when just starting out and I suggest you can use some on spots you feel is needed but don't overwhelm her just take it one step at a time ;-)

My 4 year old baby brother will grab my palettes sometimes and say like spongebob mickey mouse kitten etc. its funny XD but yea just stick with natural makeup a good thing to start out with is thr elf butternut quad its 4 netural shades and don't go heavy on the liner or she might be considered a tramp by some kids.

I read somewhere once that the best makeup looks like its not even there. I've always really liked a natural approach, esp for beginners. And then when you want to have fun only play up one feature to keep things classy. Like a bold lip or some fun liner or shadow. But I personally do not think anything too bold looks good on someone so young!

I agree :) she's very fair, so were going with nudes and browns for eyes, and corals and pink lips, just finding out what suits her.

Make sure she has makeup remover! I didn't at first, and it took a long time to fix mistakes.

My advice is for you both to look through photos of makeup looks she likes and try to recreate them. :)
But my most important advice is that makeup is used for accentuating her natural beauty, not hiding her face. :)

Please show her how to properly line her eyes. Don't let her go through the heavy liner on the bottom and none on the top.

@Gary thanks I will so she can find her own style :) @Jilian oh my yes, I had her practice lining her eye lids and achieve a fine line.

A great skin care regimen goes a long way. Moisturizer, sunscreen, cleanser!! Make looks best on clean moisturized skin!!
