Yes it does, the hair grows back thicker if you shave. Epilate or wax it :)

@Angharad N. it doesn't grow back thicker. It just looks thicker because of the blunt cut.
It bothers me when people believe the myth...

@Alex S. I know! the belly button hair ughhhhhh it's so irritating! I love being Italian, but I can live without the thick dark extra fast growing hair...it's gross.

Anna at least on the legs it gets thicker, I had like baby hairs there, blond and very thin. Since I started shaving if I let my legs be on winter, they pretty much look like a guy's :(

I mean they are darker almost black, thicker, and like wavy (ew I know)

Kattya, try waxing your legs. I promise you after you get rid of the blunt edged hair that shaving gives you and your hair grows back at its natural point...it'll go back to looking thinner and lighter. It really is all an illusion, the blunt edge makes it look thicker. Waxing takes the whole hair out so when it grows back its at its natural point. Do you get what I'm saying?

DON't SHAVE IT. It will come back feeling like cactus after awhile. The hair will grow back thicker and more coarse. Plucking removes the whole hair folicle, that is why it is effective. Same as waxing.

I give up.

@Lara. It's making me kind of upset. It's a huge myth and I'm trying to explain it clearly and simply and no one seems to get it...

You never never never wanna shave even if you have a girl stache. Get it professionally waxed or but a waxing kit. Sally hansen makes kits. If you shave then it will come back faster and more coarse, and you can risk getting a full on male mustache!

Anna I completely agree! Don't worry if nobody is listening, its valid information and its their loss.

SHAVING DOES NOT MAKE HAIR GROW BACK THICKER OR DARKER. All shaving is is cutting the hair very close to the skin. If this myth were true, everytime we got our hair cut it would grow back thick and dark. The myth doesn't make any sense if you think about it so DONT BELIEVE IT.
Now to answer your question. I would recommend waxing because it stays smoother for longer. And it also can help the hair grow back thinner and sparser because the hair follicles are being ripped out. Shaving will leave you stubbly the next day and no guy/girl would want to kiss that ;P
