It doesn't really repair anything. Hair isn't something you can really repair. Oils just help by smoothing down the outer layer of your hair, called the cuticle, which gets lifted when you do damaging things to your hair. It temporarily smoothes it back down so it will feel soft and help prevent further damage.
Most of the things you put on your hair to help it doesn't really make it healthy again, it just makes it feel nice until it grows out long enough to be cut off so you don't have to cut all of your hair off all the time.
