You can lighten your hair with lemon. It works better when you do it in the summertime because the lemon will react in your hair with the sunlight. Also yes, it will work on brown hair, depending on how much you put in. Although lemon is normally used for just highlights.

Mix equal parts of conditioner and honey add a few drops of lemon apply to wet hair and let it soak for about an hour.

If you have dark brown hair, it'll probably just turn it kind of a weird orange (if you use it a LOT)

I think it works bestcon blonde/dirty blonde and light brown hair only. You have to use it 6 times for 1 hour each time at least to see results :)
