Soo I'm seriously considering doing a henna rinse to dye my hair red for the summer-- I just don't know how long it will last/ what the upkeep will be. I've heard red fades really quickly so I wanted to get some opinions before I went for it(:

I'm thinking either an auburn or a dark red.

It does fade really quickly, and with being summer, you'd be best off wearing lots of hats if going out. I love red, too, but the upkeep in the summer is too much for me.

DO NOT use henna in your hair, it is impossible to get out!

I would not use henna. I love reds but it is a lot of upkeep if you are ok with that. You will have to refresh your hair with a glaze every 3-4 weeks depending on how much you shampoo it. I would skip and wash at least every other day. Get a good color protecting shampoo and conditioner. There are shampoos and conditioners that contains color tones in it. Try not to use too much heat to your hair or stay in the sun too long bc that will cause color to fade. Regardless reds are the fastest color to fade bc the color molecule is big and it makes it harder to penetrate the hair shaft which cause the pigment to fade. Hope this helps!

Just my opinion but summer is the worst time for red hair. I had red hair for a couple years and it fades fast and looks aweful once it does and the sun isnt going to help. I had to re dye mine every 3 weeks to keep it lookibg good.
