So I just bought not your mothers beach spray and it's not working for me, I have thick black hair and I really want to find a way to make it work, help?

I have that stuff! And my hair is thick as well. I found out that it worked better for me to use it on dry hair. I tried to use it on damp hair and it totally made my hair greasy and a little frizzy at the bottom.
I would suggest to put it on your dry hair and twist it into two Princess Leia type buns. The longer you keep them in, the more wavier your hair will be.
Make sure you do not spray towards your roots! It made it look like you had unwashed hair.
Hope I helped and good luck!

Oh and you can also put your hair in braids instead of Leia buns. I just prefer how the Leia buns look after

I use it to tousle the top of my hair, but you're right... Doesn't do too much besides smells nice. I still use it because it gives it that nice hint of a natural tousle. Just spray some in (not too much) and scrunch your hair and that should do the trick! :)
