Smile in the mirror and apply to the part of your cheeks that pop out! Then drag it back to your hair line close to your ear. Make sure to blend really well!

No don't smile and apply blush, cuz when you stop smiling then your blush just drops to an awkward place on your face. make the fishy face and blend it onto your actual cheek BONES.

The cheekbone..then gently blend in when you contour. Nevah smile. You should blend it lightly to the very apple...with most of the color at the bone itself.

Gen, excellent point. Skin texture is a factor that may not be an issue for peeps. I suppose it is whatever suits someone's individual complexion.
Sarah, I blend mine into my contour as well and I feel it does suit some face shapes best. I do apply blush to the apples, but I don't begin there as that is not the area I personally prefer to be the most pigmented. Since I'm so pale, my cheeks tend to often flush and so that works for me. Shape is an excellent point to bring up that I had not considered...clearly that would affect application.
Veronica, hopefully this video will provide you with whatever look you are trying to achieve.
