Okay so a couple of months ago I have started becoming more active for a healthy lifestyle, I started switching all of my white bread and regular cereal to all kashi whole wheat cereal, whole wheat bars, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, literally everything whole wheat (as well as more fruits and vegetables and water) and I noticed my skin was getting so much worse, I thought eating whole wheat would actually make it better, but is it possible it could make it worse? I have been doing some research and I realize this can happen to people, but has this happened to anyone on here?! Do you go to a regular doctor or a dermatologist to find out if you are allergic to whole wheat? Do they perform a test?

The only surefire way to test for an allergy is genetic testing, and that will only tell you if you have Celiac's disease. The best way to figure it out is to just cut grains and gluten out of your diet. If you feel better you can introduce one food at a time after a while to see if it gives you any symptoms.

I don't think I have the Celsius disease, but maybe a gluten sensitivity? Lol I don't know I was reading too much stuff online before, but I am deff going to cut it out of my diet and see what happens! I'm also going to the dermatologist in a couple of days so maybe she can help as well, thanks Kirsten!

Celiac's

You are welcome. :) I know cutting gluten out of my diet helped with my bowel issues and migraines. My acne is a beast of its own but everyone is different. (Also, I laughed at Celsius disease. :-P )

What could be happening is you've bombarded your body with good things very quickly and you're body is detoxing. When I drink green tea I get spots. Since you ate bread etc.before I wouldn't think gluten was the issue. Your body is probably still adjusting to the sudden influx of vitamins and pushing the toxins out through your skin. Once this face is over your skin will look fantastic. Just up your skincare til you're over the bad patch :)

Also if you do have some sort of gluten sensitivity I think it would show more symptoms. My mum does and she gets gas, indigestion and bloating.

But Jennifer I have been in this healthy phase for almost a year, :/ that's why I am still confused as to why it is not still working, I had literally flawless skin before I did the all the healthy stuff, can it take almost a year for my body to still be detoxing?

I saw a couple if months ago but now that I think about it it is almost been a year because when I started dating my boyfriend that's when I had the health kick and this June we would be dating for a year.

I feel like I do get bloating and gas as well, sometimes I have my 6 pack but other times my belly has exploded lol it's so weird, and I am not sure what indigestion is lol but I feel like it has to be something I'm eating I just don't know what.

But I don't know if the bloating and gas happens enough for it to be considered gluten sensitivity.

That does seem like a long time for your body to still be adjusting. Maybe it is gluten, or something else. Make a list of all the things you eat now that you hardly ever or never ate before the spots appeared. I am experiecing something similar. My skin has exploded with aggressive acne and I don't know why. I'm blaming hormones or artificial sweeteners. They appeared when I stopped using sugar, same time I came off the pill. The reason I don't think it's gluten is you would have eaten bread and biscuits before and not had a reaction. Do the list thing and keep us updated :)

See and that's the thing like before I started eating healthy with white bread and other stuff my face was fine an then I switched to all whole wheat stuff and my face went crazy lol I find it so odd.
May 25, 2013
Nicole B.
I will deff keep you updated, I also stopped using sugar as well so find it so weird because my skin got worse, and I am also using all natural stuff on my face which I know it can't be culprit of that, at least I don't think, but I will deff keep you updated! Keep me updated as well! I will deff make a list of all of the things I have eaten and keep you updated! Keep me updated with your progress as well! I am going to cut out gluten and whole wheat stuff from my diet and see what happens

It is odd. Cutting out sugar has done my skin no good. And natural stuff doesn't seem to work well with my skin. So used to chemicals!

I think you might be on to something. It could be hormonal too. Haha! I blame everything on hormones. ;)
May 25, 2013
Nicole B.
Haha that's so true with the hormones! Lol and I hope I am on to something Vanessa! I'm running out of solutions.

What a gluten sensitivity basically does is ruin your intestinal walls because you don't have the enzymes to handle it. It can affect other parts of your body in what I assume is a way to tell you something is wrong. So, you won't feel it only right after you eat gluten (which BTW is hidden in a lot of things, not just breads). Sometimes the damage has to build up, sometimes it's instant... and then your insides have to heal.
