Recently my lips are getting really cracked and sore and I have used my Chapstick on them but them I put my lipstick on top and my lips have just stayed the same is it the lipstick that is stopping the Chapstick from working or is it just that my Chapstick is bad quality??

Wet a clean toothbrush so that the bristles are soft, and then gently rub it on your lips moving in a circular motion. Then once you've done that put on some chapstick or a good lip balm with spf. :)

I agree with welly! I have the bubble gum flavor. It really softens your lips. And you can also try eos and baby lips. Those are fantastic too.

There have been rumors that Chapsticks can contain ingredients that actually dehydrate the lips over time, causing you to need the product more. To get rid of the cracks and flakes, exfoliate your lips with a homemade scrub (I.e. sugar and oil, which you can use an old toothbrush to circulate on the lips) or a product like Fresh Lip Scrub. After you rinse your lips and gently pat them dry with a washcloth, apply an appropriate lip product. There are numerous good products out there. Personally, I like Maybelline Baby Lips, Eos balm, and Laura Mercier Lip Silk. Also, as already noted, keeping yourself hydrated with water will help too.

Mary I've heard about the Chapstick rumor as well. My friend stopped using it and after awhile her lips healed up and she stopped "craving" it lol.
