The texture of the dye isn't as important as the actual formula in terms of the colors lasting power. But cream or foam formulas will be easier to apply :)

I've used both and they are comparable for how long they last in your hair. Liquid is messier to apply but I feel like it makes more dye than the cream. If you want a longer lasting color than you can do pre and post coloring treatments or use a more permanent dye
