So I'm 33 years old and I have yet to find a product that will hold my hair. I am mixed and I have curly frizzy hair! I don't mind my curls I actually love them but the frizz is ridiculous! I have to wear my hair up every single day and I hate it! I totally welcome any suggestions however I have tried many many different ideas and I'm still frizzy. I would love love love to challange any top stylist to tame my hair because honestly I think it cannot be done. The main problem I think is because I'm mixed so my hair is too. Products for black girls don't work because they're too strong yet products for white or Latina girls don't work neither because they're not strong enough! *sigh*

What do you use on your hair at the moment?

Well I put a relaxer in it but now it just looks like dead curls and when I straighten it it smells like burnt hair so I'm pretty sure I damaged it. I usually use Treseme gel and Loreal frizz taming serum. I guess it helps but still not what I want.

A deep condition works wonders, if your hair is dry it will be frizzy. And also a leave in conditioner works wonders and let your hair air dry w/out touching your hair. My nieces are mixed and this works for them. Hope it helps.

I don't have any experience with relaxed hair but I did over straighten my hair and to revive my curls I used a reconstruction conditioner and leave in conditioners to hold my curls.

Mixed Chicks is a hair line just for mixed chicks :) you should try it... it works WONDERS in my hair! plus color will damage your hair so deep conditioning daily will help with the Dryness and the freezing.

Also try to keep away from heat and try using oil treatments in your hair like olive oil, jobaba oil, castor oil

They actually have a line called mixed chicks?? OMG!! Where do I get it? I really can't even comb my hair without conditioner! What kind of deep conditioner do you recommend? I use the olive oil stuff for black girls twice a week. Has anyone used that Clear stuff? I hear it really works but wondering if it'll work for me?

Was your hair always frizzy or lately frizzier? Asking because you mentioned when you iron it it smells like burnt hair.. Could be its overly damaged and Tina is right, deep condition it and also sleep with it over night maybe an olive oil treatment and out a shower cap on and hit the blow dryer on it on low/ med to open up the cuticles and get it inside to moisturize.. Do not use any other form if hot tools on it for now, let it rejuvenate and keep trimming your ends if you are going out just shopping or whatever nothin special then wear it in a bun with a treatment in it.. Even coconut oil, like 100% pure org virgin coconut oil..

Also when you wash it, use a sulfate free shampoo like Loreal pro makes an inexpensive good one.. And also put a leave in conditioner on it after you wash and condition it.. And use a wide tooth comb to comb it out and don't touch it with your hands when its air drying it will cause frizz.. Also don't use any silicone based products after it.. If you do use gels make sure it's alcohol free.

No its always been frizzy. Even though I was bald until I was 2 years old I definitely make up for it now! Lol! It was the relaxer that I think killed it. I'll never do that again.

I'm mixed race too, born with super curly afro hair currently living in sri lanka where there are absolutly zero products for my hair I decided to rebond it and it look exactly the same as yours when its wet. I would recommend that you stop using shampoo for a few months and co-wash instead (wash it with only conditioner) or use a baby shampoo. Never rub it dry with a towel try and squeeze out the water instead and use a wide tooth comb Give your hair a deep condition once a week just put it on and wrap it in a hot towel and leave for 15 minutes before you rinse. Go to the salon for a trim it once a month to eliminate split ends and further damage. Use olive oil to make it more manageable and to soften it. If you use a gel switch to a wax instead and use a small amount to slick it back into a protective style like a loose bun when you're not doing anything special... Hope this helps good luck :)

Hello. You should also consider a keratin treatment at a salon. It lasts for fifty or more washes, and leaves your hair free of frizz. It can be used if you have a relaxer. I'm going to try it soon. I have mixed hair, but mine is pretty well behaved. I use products such as Paul Mitchell, Biolage, and Redkin. I flat iron my hair no more than twice a week, and trim regularly. I also leave some conditioner in, and use a high end flat iron. It comes out lovely!

I saw Mixed Chicks at Target and I guess you can find it online. You should try She's Moisture which is also at Target.

Try Curlmart.com they have everything for curly hair. Also for straightening try Super Skinny Serum by Paul-Mitchell. Mixed chicks is great but kind of on the expensive side, so maybe try buying it from amazon.com.

Thanks ladies!! I'll try and post after pics!

I use Loreal Hydracurl shampoo and conditioner on my daughter's hair. I also put coconut oil in it while it's still wet and only comb it with a wide tooth comb and no heat at all and it really looks amazing.

I use pro naturals moroccan argan oil which helps to reduce the frizz and keeps the hair soft, shiny and healthy. :D.

I have curly hair and it gets pretty frizzy. What I do is use sulfate free products and after showering I use some pro naturals argan oil on my damp hair and comb it through, then I leave it to air dry without touching it too much. The argan oil helps it to stay smooth and define the curls.
